Lead engineer, Angel Alanis (aka A-squared, Subsonic) is one of today's most diverse and consistent producers of dance music to come out of Chicago. With an uninterrupted flow of releases since 1997, he has unleashed explosive tracks ranging from electro-house and funky disco workouts to tribal house on through the depths of hard-house and minimal techno. Angel's inimitable style and masterful production technique secured remix and collaborative work with champagne tier artists such as Felix Da Housecat, Sinead O'Connor, Kool Moe Dee, DJ Dan, Julia Fordman, Robbie Rivera and a remix for Joey Negro, which occupied the #1 spot on Billboard. In 1997 Angel released his debut EP "Advanced Therapy" via Contact Records catching the attention of Bad Boy Bill and his infamous label group, Mix Connection Multimedia (MCM), whose label Contaminated Records signed Alanis and officially launched with his "Reverse Polarities" (1997) Angel went on to release numerous classic tracks through Contaminated, International House Records (IHR), and Moody. By 1999, Angel delivered his full-length debut album The Subconscious State of Techno, which received outstanding reviews from publications like URB, BPM and MIXMAG, as in addition to almost universal critical acclaim from artists like Armand van Helden, Judge Jules, and Laidback Luke. In 2001, Angel premiered his label imprint, A-Squared Muzik, with the smash hit "Do You Like the Way You Feel When You Shake". The single was licensed for numerous compilations world-wide, including Darren Emerson's "Global Underground: Live in Singapore," Charles Feelgood's "DJ Mixed," Christian Smith's "Tronic Treatment", and DJ Dan's "In Stereo." A-Squared Muzik gave Angel the chance to showcase the next generation of DJs and producers such as Robbie Rivera, Advent, Jon Pegnato, Bryan Cox, and Trevor Rockcliffe. “The reason I wanted to start my own label was to be able to put out the music I am passionate about and also give other producers a chance to release their music,” Angel has said. 2004 found Alanis on BPM Magazine's Top 100 DJ List after producing DJ Colette's Dancestar Award winning song "Feelin' Hypnotized" which was heavily licensed for compilations, commercial and film synchronization, appearing in a Motorola commercial and on OM Records. The same year saw Angel’s tracks released on DJ Dan’s label, In Stereo, Donald Glaude's Eden. The trend continued in 2005 with his hit "Knob Job" licensed to the legendary Fabric Mix series for John Digweed's Fabric 20 CD, and completion of a remix of “Don’t You Go” for Felix Da Housecat on Subliminal Records. In 2006 Angel toured globally and completed his full length album titled “Inside Out” which will be released in 2008 on his label A-Squared Muzik. With “Cage Me In,” the first single from the album, Angel makes what may be seen as a a radical departure. The piece features vocalist Renee Myara and has producers ranging from Sébastien Léger to Bon Johnson beating down the door to remix it. Angel has become one of the pioneering artists in today's dance scene, having helped carry techno and house music into the new millennium as he continues to push the boundaries of dance music into the future.
